My Love Letters to San Antonio

Updated: Apr 12, 2023

I never expected moving away from a city to feel quite so similar to heartbreak, but here I am eight months out from moving away from the Alamo City, and I am still grieving. I suspect this is because that move was so easy and felt seamless. Things just seemed to fall into my lap when I got there - a new job, great friends, the most amazing places. San Antonio has a lot to offer and is such a special, unique place. The coffee scene, street art scene, restaurant scene, etc. are all just so special to me. We lived in an apartment right on the River Walk nestled between Downtown and The Historic Pearl District, and every day brought a new adventure or experience.

I became more active than ever, I started cooking and reading more, and I fell so, so in love with my partner while living there. San Antonio gave me the opportunity to start anew away from the city I grew up in, and I became someone I had been striving to be for a long time. My love for reading and writing, local restaurants and bars, coffee, traveling, and hiking all flourished while I was living there. I made so many friends with common interests, and their lifestyles influenced mine in really amazing ways. I can't write this post without mentioning the communities I became a part of. At my job, I met Regan and Courtney, who have both filled my life with so much joy, friendship, laughter, and books. At or through my apartment complex, I met Sarah, Sarah Beth, Rachel, William, Ellie, Chaz, Kristen, Brittney, Michelle, Austin, Michael, Olivia, Nina, and several others. These are just first names to you, but to me, they were the people who made our time there so incredibly special. Ellie has an amazing wellness Instagram where you can find recipes, workouts, travel recs, skin care recs, book recs, and more!

This post is going to be a series I am excited to start working on with different editions of places I found and loved. Come back to this post to look for new links as I will be linking every edition I finish below! You get to reading, and I'll get to writing!
